It all begins with an idea. Maybe you have a creative project, or a vision of a home for your family. Whatever it is, We want to serve.

Family picture at Deep Creek Lake of our building crew

We are a family-owned Christian company with over 60 years of combined experience in residential construction.  We were introduced to the construction trade by our father, who was compelled to supplement his teaching salary—and the support of 6 children—by working odd jobs in and around Deep Creek Lake.  To alleviate the stress on our mother, dad would take us boys with him, paying us anywhere from a quarter to a few dollars a day for our services.  Looking back, we were well compensated, as these experiences developed in us a robust work ethic and taught us the basics of residential construction.  We painted condominiums in Red Run, shingled roofs on Rock Lodge, remodeled chalets on Lake Shore, and mowed lawns and raked leaves in every cove and inlet of Deep Creek Lake.

Mark

Mark took carpentry classes in high school and immediately after graduation he began working for Legacy Home Corp. He quickly rose to Project Manager and has overseen the construction of numerous homes, sprawling from 10+ bedroom mansions to custom chalets to modest single family houses. Mark has extensive experience in all facets of residential construction from breaking ground to the final finishing touches. When the building company that Mark had worked at for 28 years closed, Jon and Mark decided to go into business together, and Cornerstone Construction was born.

Jon

Jon worked on many of the same type of building projects as Mark to pay his way through college. He was intrigued by the home building process that he chose to work in the construction industry after graduation, eventually starting a small building company with a partner from the Swallow Falls area. After 10 years of building, Jon decided it was time for a change and completed his Master’s degree and went into public education. However, Jon always kept his hand in the construction trades with part-time building and remodeling projects, and is now full-time as co-owner of Cornerstone Construction.
